AI data centers are popping up across America, draining massive amounts of electricity and water while communities are being told it’s all necessary so we can beat China in the artificial intelligence arms race. I joined The Matt Gaetz Show to break down what’s actually true, what’s being exaggerated, and why two things can be true at the same time: China has every incentive to influence the debate over American AI development, and Americans have very legitimate reasons to question giant data centers showing up in their communities. We get into skyrocketing power bills, natural resources, centralized technological power, the national security argument for AI, whether “China!” is becoming an excuse to fast-track everything without scrutiny, and Elon Musk’s rather convenient solution of eventually putting data centers on the backside of the moon. Because apparently when Big Tech runs out of your electricity and water, space is the next logical victim.

Data Centers Destroying Americans’ Lives: Georgia Families Booted From Childhood Homes & Michiganders Suffer Through 24/7 “Vacuum” Noise
Dozens of data center horror stories are coming to light every few months.
Several recent news items highlight how local American communities are dealing with the data center AI boom wreaking havoc across the country.The utility giant Georgia Power is building a new transmission line for data centers that will stretch around 35 miles outside Atlanta.
Up to 30 houses are reportedly being told to sell their homes or have them confiscated by the state using eminent domain, with one woman telling CBS Mornings earlier this month that her family is being forced out of the house she grew up in.
Despite the fact that 80% of the power generated by the new project will go to data centers, a Georgia Power spokesperson claimed the company’s key focus is its customers and that they “empathize with community members” being told to leave their houses.
“To us it’s theft,” said a young woman whose family was faced with the decision to sell their home or have it forcibly taken. “It’s literally a billion-dollar company stealing land from smaller people, people who can’t fight back. We don’t have the money to fight Georgia Power.”
