Scientists discovered that wifi devices allowed them to identify people in almost the exact manner as a camera, except the camera interprets radio signals instead of light.
They also discovered that, even if you turn off your wifi devices at home, other devices in the area can be used to identify you.
Because wifi networks are active across homes and communities, these signals could be used to identify you in public, anywhere there is a signal.
One of the lead researchers warned that this new technology “might become a nearly comprehensive surveillance infrastructure with one concerning property: they are invisible and raise no suspicion.”
Website Science Daily explains, “Earlier approaches to sensing people through wireless signals have often relied on specialized equipment or more complex measurements. Some techniques, for example, use LIDAR sensors, which measure distances by sending out light and analyzing the reflected signal.
“Other WiFi based approaches use channel state information (CSI). This refers to measurements showing how a wireless radio signal changes as it travels through an environment and reflects from walls, furniture, people, and other objects.
“The new technique does not require that kind of specialized hardware. According to the researchers, a standard WiFi device is enough.
“The method takes advantage of normal communications produced by legitimate users connected to a WLAN. WLAN is another term for a wireless local area network, essentially the WiFi network operating within a home, office, café, or similar location.”
Unencrypted information is regularly sent on these networks, meaning that “anyone within range can potentially read them.”
“By analyzing that information, the system can generate images of people from multiple viewpoints. Those images can then be used to determine a person’s identity.”
When the data is fed into a machine-learning algorithm, the identification process is reduced to mere seconds.
In tests involving 197 participants, the researchers identified individuals almost 100% of the time.

Senate Bill Would Put Age Checks In Every US Operating SystemEvery bill that builds a checkpoint says it is not building a checkpoint.
A bipartisan bill just introduced would build an age check into the operating system of every phone and computer sold in America.The Digital Age Assurance Act of 2026, S. 5090, from Senators Andy Kim, Cynthia Lummis, Adam Schiff, and John Barrasso, takes California’s age-signaling law and makes it the national standard.
The bill was referred to the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation on July 22, 2026, and would take effect 18 months after enactment.
With the proposals, an operating system cannot be used without an account, and the account requires the user to “indicate the date of birth and age of the user.”
For now, the user gets to declare their own age. A “covered device” is any computer, mobile device or other general-purpose computing device capable of running an operating system, so the requirement reaches practically everything.
This is also backdated and accounts that already exist when the law takes effect are included.

I checked the Flock camera map for my city recently and was stunned. According to reports, Flock Safety operates more than 100,000 AI-powered cameras across the United States, and a map of a local zip code showed cameras on nearly every major road. As The New American reported, from Los Angeles to New York, these cameras are actively surveilling nearly every American as they commute to work, walk their dogs, and drive to church.That’s not a safety tool -- that’s the foundation of a surveillance state that would make George Orwell blush.
But here’s what most people don’t realize: those cameras aren’t just reading license plates. Newer technology used alongside the Flock cameras can also scan Bluetooth and Wi?Fi signals from your phone. Your phone broadcasts a list of known Wi?Fi networks -- your home network, your work network, your favorite coffee shop. That list becomes a unique digital fingerprint. As Activist Post reported, Flock Safety’s expanding product line includes pedestrian?tracking AI, creating what amounts to a warrantless mass surveillance infrastructure that logs vehicle movements and follows people with AI. Flock insists it isn’t tracking people, but its own systems tell a different story.
